I love that Look on parents’ faces when their kids are being super cute. I see it in plydia all the time and I’ve been seeing it in my sister more and more.
It’s this Look that comes on whenever their kid does or says something irresistibly adorable in front of people. Whether it be an infant’s clumsy smile or a toddler’s hilarious observation, the people watching will squeal with uncontrollable glee while the mom or dad just watches somewhat plainly, because they’ve seen it so many times before, but still so lovingly, because they’ll never get tired of their wonderful child.
It’s a Look that’s more proud than jaded. More warm than ecstatic. More loving than impressed.
For us, the non-parents that haven’t been spending all day & night with this bundle of both delight and poop, we are completely floored and cannot believe the outrageous cuteness unspooling before our eyes. For the parents that have been soaking in the delight as well as cleaning the poop, it’s nothing new but yet, it feels like the first time.
I think the Father looks at us like that whenever we do or say something praiseworthy. And though others may clap and give us excited expressions, His Look should be the one that matters most.
